The Passport of Chemical Safety: Qualified SDS Preparation Processes

Safety Data Sheets (SDS / MSDS), the most fundamental document for the safe transport, storage, and use of chemical substances and mixtures throughout the supply chain, are not just a data table; they are the legal and technical passport of the product. However, preparing a qualified SDS requires deep regulatory expertise, far beyond simply obtaining a software output.

According to KKDIK and related regulations in Turkey, Safety Data Sheets can only be prepared or approved by competent persons holding a Chemical Assessment Expert (KDU) certificate.

  • KDU Competence: A KDU evaluates the physicochemical properties of the chemical, its toxic effects on human health, and environmental risks as a whole.

  • Legal Responsibility: An incorrectly or incompletely prepared SDS does not only bring operational risks but also serious administrative sanctions.

Not Just Translation, But Qualified Assessment

A qualified SDS preparation process should cover the following critical topics beyond terminological accuracy:

  • Classification and Labeling (CLP/GHS): Correct classification of the substance according to current regulations (CLP/GHS) determines the product's market fate. An incorrect "hazardous" classification increases logistics costs, while incomplete classification invites workplace accidents.

  • Transport Information (ADR/IMDG/IATA): Section 14 is the heart of logistics processes. UN Number and packaging group selections must be fully compliant with international transport regulations.

  • Exposure Scenarios and Controls: Correct analysis of occupational exposure limit values (DNEL/PNEC) for worker health ensures that Section 8 becomes a real protection shield, not just a formality.

  • Terminology Compliance: Full compliance of technical terms with the target language's (TR, EN, DE) current chemistry literature and local regulations is mandatory.

Pier Compliance Difference: Global Standard, Local Expertise

The SDS preparation process is the art of managing a chemical's life cycle. As Pier Compliance, in the documents we prepare with our KDU-certified experts, we focus not only on legal compliance but also on operational efficiency. In all languages, especially German, English, and Turkish, we integrate the specific limit values and legal statements of the relevant country into your SDSs.

Remember: An incomplete SDS means a halted production line or a truck waiting at the border. Entrust your chemical safety to expert hands.
